Effective B2C Electronic Commerce

Abstract

Electronic commerce is today the symbol of an economic sector without frontiers in which consumers have easy access to a global market of products and services. Although it is admitted that logistics are a key factor of success and require perfect coordination between e-supply chain members, little has been said or written on the implementation of suitable logistics structures. The author expands on this issue and specifies that several alternatives can be considered in terms of physical logistics, without any consensual model really emerging.

Introduction

E-commerce is now one of the more stimulating retailing subjects, both for practitioners and academic researchers. At home, at the work place and even on holiday, e-consumers have virtual access to a large offer of products and services that no outlet assortment will ever be able to propose. In a minimum of time and effort, they can satisfy their wildest expectations in terms of purchase variety and diversity.
