The Use of Palm Technology at Goodyear Tire and Rubber: A Case Study
ABSTRACT
This article analyzes a new technology, specifically Palm Computing. The objectives of this study are to analyze the different ways that Palm computing products and services are making it easier, safer, and more cost effective for an enterprise to deploy and to support mission-critical handheld solutions. As a result, this study provides a success story at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Corporation.
Recent studies indicate that Palm Computing empowers mobile workers with better application access and data collection tools. Thus, companies are able to improve customer relations, drive more informed marketing and sales programs, and speed up the process of decision-making. These process enhancements translate into significant gains in productivity and increased competitiveness.
This paper describes the way that handheld solutions will improve the efficiency at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Corporation.
INTRODUCTION
Palm products are becoming increasingly important as the movement toward more mobile communication rises. The growth of the handheld computing market is in part, being driven by the transformation of the corporate environment into an extended, virtual enterprise supported by a highly mobile, geographically dispersed workforce requiring fast, easy remote access to networked resources and electronic communications.
By far, the major leader in the Palm technology market is Palm computing.
