Earlier I had worked in “Institute for Plasma Research (IPR), Gandhinagar” , for 9 months and in “Information and Library Network Centre (INFLIBNET Centre), Ahmedabad” for 3 months.

My Duties

1. Maintaining IUCAA Library Home Page (http://www.iucaa.ernet.in/~library)
2. Maintaining IUCAA on-line Preprint page (http://www.iucaa.ernet.in/~library/pp/pp2002.html)
3. Using SLIM ++ (System for Library Information Management ) for Library operation.
4. On-Line/Print Journal Subscription and Renewal every year.
5. Handling Book Section independently.
6. Doing Cataloguing (AACR 2) and Classification (UDC) independently
7. Taking care of other sections also (Journal Section, Back-Volume Section, Audio-Visual Section,
Reprographic Section,Reference Section and Inter-Library-Loan Service)
8. Providing Contents Page Service to University Sector
9. Assisting for Workshops/Schools sponsored by IUCAA.
10. Providing CAS / SDI / Email Alert services to scientific community
11. Reconciliation activities : Reconciliation of the amount spent by the library on the
purchase of books/journals/offprint , with the account department.

My paper “Role of Electronic Journals in Astronomy and Astrophysics Libraries in India : An overview of IUCAA Library”
has been accepted for presentation in XX IASLIC National Seminar to be held at Punjabi University, Patiala
from 27th to 30th December, 2002.

Doctoral Degree :

I am doing my doctoral degree in Library and Information Science on the topic “Use of Electronic Journals in Astronomy and Astrophysics Libraries in India” under the guidance of Dr. Neela J. Deshpande, Reader, Dept. of Library and Information Science, University of Pune, Pune.
