By virtue of information technology it is now possible to get almost all necessary information needed for daily life. Similarly there is a immense chance of getting wrong, unauthenticated information . Specially in developing countries technological development in the field of information is not admiring . Most of the people usually the poor and the illiterate are not information rich . As a result they are not usually successful in their business.

Indeed information can change our life. Information is necessary for the development of a nation, group and even an individual. Information Society Today will work for the development of information, it's proper use, proper organization and dissemination to right person. It is not a easy task at all. For the development of it's objectives your cordial participation and contribution is required. We believe that through proper use of information overall development of a nation is possible.

Information Society Today is a voluntary organization . It has a number of plans to develop information system, and to cooperate with the libraries, information centers and the library organizations around the world. Definitely these tasks are not so easy at all. We need your utmost help in this regard. We request you to sponsor this voluntary organization to make this site a great one and to take different initiative in the development of information . Sponsor may be a international organization in the field of education or foundation help in promoting educational activities. Information Society Today will gradually take  different types of dynamic efforts to make our field a better one specially in the 3rd world countries. Information system  has promoted a lot in the developed countries, so its our responsibility to develop it in the 3rd world countries. Let's be a part of this achievement , contribute generously and develop use of information in every field .

Vision :

             Information Society Today (IST) shall work to enrich the knowledge of library and information science , information literacy, information system development, poverty alleviation through information, and activities related to information and it’s development, as a whole for the development of information society particularly in developing countries like Bangladesh.
 

Mission:

            Information Society Today believe that information can change our life, style, our way of thinking. Right information is very much necessary at the right time for the overall development of a country . Information Society Today is established to fulfill the following aims and objectives :

i. To assess information needs of community people and  serve the community with necessary information  

ii. To bring resources related to information science, information and communication technology, information literacy, librarianship field in one place

iii. To provide exhaustive knowledge in library and information science field

iv. To make cooperation with world information professionals

v. To publish article and latest development news and others relevant library and information science documents

vi. Conduct policy research and advocacy on issues such as universal and inclusive access to the information society and develop alternative approaches to meet the challenges of the digital divide – such as rich and poor; virtual and spatial; north-south; developed-developing; inter-intra regional and national; countries with favorable physical resources conditions and vulnerable small islands developing states; mainstream beneficiaries-marginalized and disadvantaged groups (women, men, youth, children, the disabled, indigenous, migrant and refugee communities and the vast segment of the rural population).

vii. To provide free information to all regarding library and information science, information and communication technology, information literacy, librarianship, information society, and its related field;

viii. To participate in the global information literacy community advocating to make information available and accessible to all

ix. To promote use of information in every field of study

x. To promote information literacy at the grass roots level

xi. To networks with organizations and institutions sharing similar aims and objectives;

xii. promote research activities for the development of information and its uses.

xiii. Examine the economic, political and social realities that undermine human rights and dignity in the context of information society and find ways and means to promote human rights and human development.
